# facebot API versioning and deprecation

Current API version is 1.

Canonical paths are /api/v1/*. Unversioned /api/* is the same version 1 alias.
Breaking changes require a new major path: /api/v2.

Deprecation policy: operations that will be removed are announced on this page
and on /docs#versioning. Those responses include RFC 8594 Deprecation and
Sunset headers with a calendar date. Clients should read Sunset and stop
calling the operation before that date.

There is no sunset scheduled for v1. v1 will not be removed without a Sunset
header and at least 90 days of notice.
